American Desert

The American Desert

by Oscar, Jill, and Adrienne

Our habitat is the American Desert. Deserts can be very hot or very cold but are very dry.  The American Desert is very hot and gets more rain than most deserts. More rain means more plants and animals can survive in the desert. Saguaro is a cactus that lives in the American Desert and a Jackrabbit is an animal that lives in the American Desert.
The Artic is also a desert. Unlike the American Desert, it is very cold.

We learned about deserts here

Habitats: Where Animals Live.

Hello Everyone and Welcome!

Today we are talking about where animals live. You are going to do some research. Using your research you are to define what a habitat is, then you are going to describe a land habitat.  You will identify one plant and one animal that lives in your region.

First things first! You need to do some research. What is a habitat? To find out, listen to this song.
To find out more info on habitats, watch this Crash Course Kids Video.

We are going to focus on The American Desert , The Wetlands  and The Artic habitats.

Group A will work on The American Desert
Group B The Wetlands
Group C The Artic

Feel free to take a look at some of the different kinds of Land Habitats. Once you are on the site, if you click on the names of the habitats, more information will appear.

Now it is time to put your knowledge of habitats to good use!

Remember:
Group A will focus on The American desert
Group B will focus on The Wetlands habitat
Group C will focus on The Artic habitat.

Create a new post in response to this one. The name of your post should be the name of you habitat. You should have a heading in your post which will be the name of your habitat, followed by the names of the students in your group.
Example: The Rain Forest by Jake, Joe, and Jon.
Remember, use your  first names only!
In the body of your post, answer the following questions.

Questions:

1) What is your habitat like? Is it hot? Cold? Humid? Dry?

2) Name one animal and one plant that you could find in your groups habitat. Post a picture of each.

3) Choose another groups habitat and compare and contrast it to your assigned habitat. Give one example on how it is the same, and one example how it is different.

4) Post the link that gave you the information you used.
